Château Lafite Rothschild – Estate Story
Château Lafite Rothschild, in Pauillac, Bordeaux, is one of the oldest and most prestigious wine estates in the world. The vineyard’s history dates back to the 17th century, with records of Lafite wines appearing in 1625. It gained international fame in the 18th century, especially in London, where it became a symbol of aristocratic taste.
Acquired by the Rothschild family in 1868, the estate has remained under their management, combining centuries-old tradition with modern winemaking techniques. Lafite is renowned for its elegance, finesse, and longevity. The estate spans roughly 112 hectares of prime Pauillac vineyards, planted mostly with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
The 2022 vintage continues Lafite’s legacy, balancing classic Pauillac structure with freshness and aromatic complexity, reflecting both terroir and meticulous vineyard management.
